Corporate Social Responsibility

The firm exists in a country.
The country has a claim on the firm.

Our CSR program is small, deliberate, and locally rooted. We commit a fixed percentage of partner profits each year to three pillars — access to justice, education, and community — and we report on it.

Principles

How we decide what to support.

  • 01

    Local first.

We support Botswana institutions before international ones, and Batswana-led organisations before foreign-led ones.

  • 02

    Hours over headlines.

We measure ourselves on lawyer hours given, not on the size of a cheque written for publicity.

  • 03

    Multi-year commitments.

Every partnership is a minimum three-year commitment. We do not do one-off announcements.

  • 04

    Independent reporting.

Our CSR ledger is reviewed annually by an external auditor and published in full.

  • 05

    Conflict-checked, like everything.

Pro bono matters go through the same conflict check as paid work. We turn matters away when the math doesn't work.

Have a matter that should reach a courtroom but cannot afford one?

We take pro bono inquiries through the same channel as paid inquiries. Conflict-permitting, we respond to every one.
